Best Travel Trailers For Couples. Our Top 5 List

2018 Kodiak 201QB

I recently wrote an article called Best Class A RVs For Couples and thought, “Why not write one for all of the other types?”. So I decided to bring you the Best Travel Trailers For Couples. If you are like Kellie and I, it’s only the two of us and a dog or two, when we go camping. We have no need for a big travel trailer with bunkhouses or extra sleeping areas. A small camper works just fine for us.

What Is A Travel Trailer?

Travel trailers are towable RVs that come in various lengths and floorplans, depending on the needs of your family. These are generally less expensive than a motorhome and give you the freedom to use your tow vehicle once you are unhooked. You will, however, experience lower fuel economy in your tow vehicle. Your tow vehicle must be rated for the weight of your RV.

I researched travel trailers under 30′ with accommodations that would fit the needs of couples without sacrificing comfort and usability. Without further ado, let’s jump in to our list of the Best Travel Trailers For Couples.

Dutchmen Kodiak 201QB

First on the list is the Kodiak 201QB. This is the camper that Kellie and I have. Of course it’s going to be on the list. I may have a slightly biased opinion on this one. When it comes to storage, this little RV has plenty of it. There is a pass thru basement storage that is big enough to hold all of our gear and then some. Storage on the inside is awesome as well. The bathroom has two large area for hanging clothes and two drawers for folded clothes. There is a dresser just inside the door and storage on both sides of the bed.

Kellie’s favorite thing about the Kodiak is the glass shower door. I don’t believe we will ever have another RV with a curtain now.

Some key features:

  • Length – 24′ 1″
  • GVWR – 5500 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight – 462
  • 14′ Powered Awning
  • Manual Stabilizer Jacks
  • Bench Seat Dinette
  • Glass/Plastic Shower Door
  • Interior/Exterior Speakers

Palomino Puma 25RKQB

This RV would make a great starter RV or the perfect RV for a couple. The bedroom is separated from the rest of the camper with a door. We don’t have a door in our RV but it’s just the two of us so privacy isn’t really an issue for us. The dinette and sofa are located in the only slide. It doesn’t come standard with an outdoor kitchen but you do have the option of adding one if you want.

Some key feature:

  • Length – 29′ 6″
  • GVWR – 7598 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight – 670 lbs.
  • 20′ Powered Awning
  • Manual Stabilizer Jacks
  • Bench Seat Dinette
  • Glass/Plastic Shower Door
  • Interior/Exterior Speakers

Jayco Jay Feather 16RK

This camper is one of the smaller on the list. It does come with a queen sized bed, however, if you’re not nimble, you may have a hard time getting in and out of it. There is no dinette but there is storage for a fold up table beside the fridge. There is an option to replace the theater seating with U-shaped dinette. When Kellie and I bought our Kodiak, we toured a Jayco very similar to this model. It wasn’t too bad and makes a great first time RV.

Some key features:

  • Length – 24′ 1″
  • GVWR – 6,000 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight – 465 lbs.
  • 13′ Powered Awning
  • Manual Stabilizer Jacks
  • Theater Seating/Optional U-Shaped Dinette
  • Interior/Exterior Speakers

Coachmen Apex 211RBS

This camper comes in just over 26′ and has alot to offer. There is a pass-thru storage underneath and “Super Storage” under the queen sized bed.

Super Bed Storage in the 211 RBS keeps gear and extras
organized for easy access, creating a walk-in storage area
under the queen bed.

It doesn’t have your typical dinette, instead it comes with a bar and barstools. The sofa is in the slide and you have the option of swapping it out for theater seating with recliners.

Some key features:

  • Length – 26′ 2″
  • GVWR – 7000 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight – 630 lbs.
  • 16′ Powered Awning
  • Manual Stabilizer Jacks
  • Sofa/Optional Theater Seating
  • Plastic/Glass Shower Door
  • Interior/Exterior Speakers

Grand Design Imagine 2250RK

When it comes to luxury in a small travel trailer, the Grand Design delivers. This RV has all the bell and whistles in a short package. One of the first things that sparked my attention was the built in pet dish under the fridge. That’s a great use of space in my opinion. The Imagine also comes standard with a fireplace and a retractable television. The dinette is a sofa with removable table and an optional theater dinette.

Some key features:

  • Length – 27′ 11″
  • GVWR – 7495 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight – 515 lbs.
  • 19′ Powered Awning
  • Manual Stabilizer Jacks
  • Bench Seat Dinette
  • Fireplace
  • Interior/Exterior Speakers
